Coral Sense, Bali
CoralSense: expeditions that make a difference.
At CoralSense, you don’t just travel — you help restore the ocean. Join our team in Bali to plant corals, dive with purpose, and discover how your actions bring entire ecosystems back to life.
Our expeditions are a great opportunity for both internships and meaningful travel.
We want ordinary people to learn about the ocean and its problems from the perspective that opens up to all biologists. To involve and inspire so that everyone, even during a short vacation, can help to grow corals and learn marine biology.
We welcome you to join the first coral restoration community in Bali.
Come as a biologist or a volunteer with or without expertise in coral growing.
THE OCEAN NEEDS YOU. WE NEED YOU.

LONG-TERM EXPEDITIONS (2-4 WEEKS)
THIS ISN'T JUST A TRIP - IT'S A TRUE DIVE INTO THE LIFE OF THE OCEAN.
During this diving expedition, you'll be restoring coral reefs in two coral restoration sites in Bali: CoralSense Amed and Livingseas Padang Bai.
Imagine diving with a tank, learning to understand the underwater world, and seeing it from within. You'll study the basics of marine biology, work with corals among the reefs. And on the surfact - explore the island, live in a cozy eco-home, laugh, and share moments with people who, like you, want to make the world a better place.
IT'S A JOURNEY THAT WARMS YOUR SOUL. YOU LEAVE AS A DIFFERENT PERSON - BECAUSE YOU DON'T JUST LEAVE A MARK ON THE OCEAN, YOU LEAVE A PIECE OF YOUR HEART. FOR THOSE WHO SEEK MEANING, KINDRED SPIRITS - AND SOMETHING TRULY REAL.

MORNING ROUTINE
Energy for the day ahead.
Your day typically begins with a hearty breakfast to fuel your activities. After breakfast, you’ll have a briefing session to outline the day’s tasks and objectives, ensuring everyone is prepared and aligned. Mornings are often dedicated to coral restoration activities, where you’ll participate in coral planting dives, collect vital data, and monitor the health of our coral gardens. This immersive experience not only allows you to contribute directly to marine conservation but also provides you with an in-depth understanding of coral ecosystems.
MIDDAY BREAK
Evaluate and refuel.
Around midday, you’ll return to the retreat center for lunch and some downtime. This is a great opportunity to relax, socialize with fellow volunteers, or enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Our center offers various amenities, such as a pool, kayaks, and spaces for relaxation, ensuring you have plenty of options to unwind.
AFTERNOON ACTIVITIES
Reactivate and deepen your knowledge.
In the afternoon, you’ll continue with coral-related activities or embark on educational sessions. These might include learning about marine biology, preparing for theoretical exams about corals, or engaging in workshops designed to deepen your understanding of ocean conservation. Some afternoons are also reserved for exciting excursions, such as diving at the Liberty wreck or exploring nearby marine sites.
EVENING RELAXATION
Relax and reflect.
As the sun begins to set, you’ll often participate in a sunset yoga session, which is a perfect way to relax and reflect on the day’s activities. Dinner is a communal event, where you can enjoy local cuisine and share stories with your peers. Many evenings feature additional activities, such as bonfires on the beach, games, and cultural exchanges. These moments foster a strong sense of community and provide a deeper connection to the local culture.
SPECIAL EXCURSIONS AND FREE DAYS
Once a week, you’ll have a free day to explore Bali independently or participate in optional excursions. This could include a tour to our marine biology lab, a sauna session, a trip to see whale sharks, or visiting local cultural sites. These excursions are designed to enrich your experience and provide a broader perspective on the region’s natural and cultural heritage. On these free days, you can also focus on rest and rejuvenation, essential for maintaining your health and well-being. Enjoy a leisurely day sunbathing, indulging in a spa treatment, or practicing mindfulness to ensure your body and mind are well-rested and ready for the week ahead.
